THe Rat Race

Everyone has a goal in life but do we really need to offend people on our way in achieving them.  We become so arrogant and stubborn that we don’t even spare a moment enjoying the beautiful life we are gifted with. Everybody wants to surpass each other for satisfying their ego. But does this satisfaction really give us happiness or it’s just a myth in which we weave our life.

Few people want to kill the competition and few are just slogging themselves to come to the top. The competition which we want to kill might kill us one day as if we broaden our horizon the race which we are running is run by every other individual on our planet.  Some of us think that our greatest competitors are the colleagues with whom our performance is compared but it’s demon inside us with whom we should compete. The world would become a better place to live if we start doing that as the sense of envy and jealousy would vanish. Even after killing the competition or winning the race, are we happy or it’s just that our ego is satisfied. Satisfying ego has become pivotal in our life and in that fear we don’t take risk of thinking out of the box. We are still stuck with stereotype methodologies which in the end bears no fruit.

Being born in an over populated country, the race began from the time of admissions into schools. When we could not even walk properly, we were asked to run. Then came the boards where everyone had eyes on us and we too wanted to score good as we wanted to get through the best school in town. The process continued, the great entrance exams and then the cgpa of the college. It won’t stop as thought because we would then want to climb the hierarchy of posts of our company.

We work for a better tomorrow, but when it comes we are again working for a better tomorrow, so we hardly have time to seek happiness in small things in life. The race which we all are running is futile; happiness doesn’t mean being at the top, it means knowing your inner self and being contented with whatever you have. A time will come where we will be successful but we won’t have anybody to share our success with. Successful life will have its own definition in each of our dictionaries. Some of us might just feel successful by superficial felicity of life, but for some being successful is being contented in life.

Being contented doesn’t mean that we should be complacent in life, it means that we should try to reduce our flaws and fight against ourselves to reach a new height without having a feeling of jealousy amongst each other.
